Margaret Warren is an artist, technologist and researcher based mostly in Florida and sometimes in California.

Art: Most of her art is a mix of photography, painting, collage and similar mediums – usually water based. Most of her work is in 2D, but she will occasionally work in assemblages, sculptures and installation pieces from time to time. Some works for sale can currently be found in the gift shop at LeMoyne Art Gallery, Tallahassee, Florida (2024-2026).

Technology: She is the founder of Metadata Authoring Systems and a research associate with the Florida Institute for Human & Machine Cognition. She is the creator of ImageSnippets, a metadata management platform and image publishing service built entirely from semantic web/linked data/knowledge graph principles. Her work has been the subject of numerous invited talks and publications, and she holds a patent for the design of a device for the construction of computable semantic annotations. 

Research: Her research involves describing images and the technologies behind image description, annotation, labeling, embedded metadata, RDF & structured metadata and the semantic web.

All of the galleries on this site are created using a wordpress plugin that works with ImageSnippets and builds the galleries dynamically based on SPARQL queries from RDF based metadata stored in a triple store hosted at ImageSnippets.
